The Durak Report February 24, Anno Domini 2026

1. Recent News

1.1. Thomas rips Supreme Court tariffs ruling, says majority 'errs' on Constitution

I still say this can go either way, but I'll get into that later.

1.4. Russia will respond if Estonia hosts NATO nukes – Kremlin

Russia plans to aim nukes at Estonia if NATO nukes are deployed there.

1.5. Afghanistan threatens retaliation over Pakistani airstrikes

Pakistani bombed Afghanistan after suicide bombers attacked Pakistan.

1.6. Slovakia halts electricity supplies to Ukraine

Looks like it's happening already.

2. Extra words nobody asked for

2.1. Thomas rips Supreme Court tariffs ruling, says majority 'errs' on Constitution

I can read the law as going either way. As Justice Thomas says, precedence says:

"the authority to regulate importation has been understood to include the authority to impose duties on imports."

However, actual reading of the law isn't explicit in this. I believe we should be more explicit.

So let's update the law. Let's add, explicitly, that tariff powers are granted or not granted.

Every time the Supreme court makes a ruling, congress should be mandated to update the law to clarify intent. It doesn't have to side with the ruling. It just has to clarify intent.

2.2. Russia will respond if Estonia hosts NATO nukes – Kremlin

This is actually a very reasonable reaction from Russia, that said, let's not do this.

The EU keeps talking smack about fighting Russia, if they put nukes next to Russia, the only reasonable thing for them to do is be prepared to destroy them.

2.3. Afghanistan threatens retaliation over Pakistani airstrikes

This was a bad move. Pakistan is surrounded by people who don't really like them. Attacking Afghanistan will just give Pakistan's neighbors more reason to not support them.

And, apparently India agrees.

India condemns Pakistani airstrikes on Afghanistan

They need to get regional support before they act like this, and in light of the situation, they may have been able to get it.

2.4. Slovakia halts electricity supplies to Ukraine

It's puzzling that Ukraine is willing to give up access to energy supplies in return for shutting off some of the Russian gas.

Sure, it's an economic hit to Russia, but I suspect it's not enough to be worth depriving their own citizens of electricity and diesel.

Is this a plan to allow Ukraine to surrender?
