This is sad, but these things happen.

tl;dr

Teens prank teacher at his home, he trips and falls as teens drive away, one teen drives over teacher, teens attempt to treat teacher until medics arrive, teacher dies.

The teens are all "charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and littering on private property" and the boy that ran over his teacher was also " charged with felony first-degree vehicular homicide and reckless driving."

This was a regular prank. It was expected. The teacher was even waiting around to catch them because it was a fun tradition.

Littering and trespassing charges seem silly, but the other two are at least reasonable, even though this was clearly an unfortunate incident that bore no ill intent.

Reckless driving that resulted in death is the only reasonable charge. It's possible this is true, but it is clear that this is an unintentional tragedy.
