The Durak Report May 11, Anno Domini 2026

1. Recent News

1.2. U.S. and China arrest 5 in joint drug smuggling investigation ahead of Trump trip

Always good to see US and China work together for good.

1.3. Remains of US soldier who went missing during exercises in Morocco recovered

I guess they fell off a cliff and into the ocean? They found one of two missing soldiers.

1.4. Democrats vow to fight $1 billion Senate security proposal for White House ballroom

What's wrong with funding security? Is it just too much? Is it putting the money in the wrong places? See below.

1.5. Oklahoma principal who tackled gunman says "there was no denying" sound of gunshots

He didn't know he had been shot until he got up. I 100% relate to this. What a hero!

1.6. Trump wants to suspend the federal gas tax. How much would that help drivers?

Nice title. Nice gesture. But in the article, they bitch about it not being enough.

1.7. Another NATO state urges Ukraine to control its drones

I guess Estonia has had enough of this. Huh. Maybe the war is going to end.

1.8. Baltic state’s defense minister fired over Ukrainian drone incursions

Latvia dismissed their defense minister over the Ukrainian drone issue. Huh. Latvia. Folks, I think this war is over.

2. Extra words for which nobody asked

2.1. The families going hungry because of Trump’s food stamp cuts

I haven't really been following NBC, but I figure I'd add them.

Wow, NBC is super anti-Trump. It's kinda crazy.

Anyway,I digress.

From the article: “It’s been really hard. We’ve been going to food banks every week,” Hudson said. She’s a single mom who had received about $600 a month in food assistance to supplement her income as a part-time caretaker. Her benefits stopped without warning three months ago. “We’re eating less, we’re eating more frozen stuff.”

What? If you have less money, why would you eat more "frozen stuff?" Are they talking like, frozen fruits and vegetables? Not much wrong with that.

Are they talking about TV dinners? Well, those are far more expensive than regular groceries. What exactly were they eating before? And now? This is suspect.

Oh, she's (a person in MA) being cut off because of the work requirements. This is all just a hit piece on Trump, but I enjoy giving it a fair shake anyway.

Also from the article:

In practice, though, these changes are going beyond their stated aims and have made it harder for many more people in Arizona to receive food assistance, even if they should be eligible, according to policy analysts, service providers and more than two dozen people who said they believed they were wrongly cut off from the program.

They just said that. They didn't say how, they just said that it's harder. gg NBC, gg.

Article:

Those numbers are showing up in the lines at Arizona food banks, some of which are seeing record demand.

Uhm, so there's already a solution. What's the problem?

Ohh, it sounds like the Federal government penalizes states if states have a high payment error rate.

Huh, so NBC is mad that Arizona is working harder to avoid overpayment. That's the issue. They want fraud.

2.2. Democrats vow to fight $1 billion Senate security proposal for White House ballroom

So, apnews actually tells us what's going on.

The money is to upgrade the building's security measures. So private money funds the ballroom while public money funds the security. Well, 1B isn't all that much money. We gave a lot more than that to Zelenskyy and his friends. What's wrong with 1B to White House security?
